Full-Hookup Campsites Now Available at Fontainebleau State Park

MANDEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Office of State Parks announced new upgrades to Fontainebleau State Park having recently completed a campsite improvement project which added full hookups to the 96-site campground. The upgraded campsites include water, electricity and sewer utilities.

“Our guests asked for full hookup campsites, and we delivered on our promise,” Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser said. “The full hookup campsites will make for a more convenient, enjoyable stay and allow time for relaxing and experiencing the natural beauty of the Fontainebleau State Park.”

Jimmie Davis State Park in Jackson Parish is next on the list to receive full hookups at all campsites. Construction is expected to begin before the end of this year.

Other recently announced upgrades to Fontainebleau State Park include the addition of an all-inclusive playground which opened with a ribbon cutting last week. The 7,200+ square foot playground includes several special features from a safety surface, accessible ramps, a wheelchair accessible "together glider," a tactile roller slide, inclusive swing seat and more.

Fontainebleau State Park is a 2,800-acre park located southeast of Mandeville on the shore of Lake Pontchartrain. Park grounds include brick ruins of a sugar mill built in 1829 by Bernard de Marigny de Mandeville, founder of the nearby town of Mandeville. An old railroad track that runs through the park was converted into the Tammany Trace as a part of the Rails to Trails program. Bordered on three sides by water – Lake Pontchartrain, Bayou Cane and Bayou Castine – and characterized by a convergence of diverse ecosystems, it has a multitude of habitats for birds. Overnight options include tent and RV sites, deluxe cabins, and two group camps that each accommodate up to 65 and 100 guests.
