The Louisiana Master Naturalists will be hosting an invasive tree removal at Fontainebleau State Park on the last Saturday of each month from 9 am until 12 pm. This is an educational program and volunteer opportunity. The dates for this program are September 24, October 29, November 26, and December 31.
Tallow trees are one of the dominant invasive species at Fontainebleau. Their aggressive root systems pose a threat to the well-being of native species. Some of the work removing them will include pulling seedlings, treating cut stumps, and moving cut trees.
Please bring whatever tools you are comfortable with using with gloves, a hat, mosquito repellent, and water. This program will meet at the Visitor's Center and is weather permitting.
